Back in the 1960s, this was mobile wireless technology. Interestingly, 'Internet' appears to have been an actual company, based at 100-102 Beckenham Road, Beckenham. Or, as the instruction leaflet insists, 'Beekenham'.
Terrible name. It was never going to catch on...

Technically you can't really copyright a name or word, etc. Usually copyright applies to longer pieces of distinct work such as an entire book.
The word could have been trademarked way back then, which would have been an very interesting issue. There's no chance of doing that now as it is in common use.
